


Dorohoi is located in northeastern Romania with a population of approximately 34.000 residents. According to international statistics this is the poorest region of the country with the highest unemployment rate and a high rate of infant mortality. Child neglect and abandonment are coupled with the highest birth rate of the entire nation.
HCI is counseling and serving a growing number of poverty-stricken families and single mothers who are at risk of neglecting and abandoning their children.
